April 2001 It is recognised that the school receives strong and enthusiastic support for a wide range of activities. All of these call upon the volunteer services of parents and, at times, students. These activities generally fall into two categories: - Those that directly raise money, and
- Those that provide services that save the school from expending money.
The first category includes specific “business units” that generate considerable cash revenue and inventory turnover. These units provide a service to the school that is integral to its successful operation. The successful management of these demands a level of responsibility, competency and reliability that exceeds the normal expectations of volunteer service. In recognition of the level of management expected of the persons overseeing these units, the School and the P&C agree that defined supervisory positions qualify as paid positions. The current business units with such supervisory positions include the Canteen and the Uniform Shop, that is the Canteen supervisor and the Uniform Shop supervisor. The level of remuneration and its nature - e.g. salary, honorarium etc - will be assessed and reviewed by the relevant P&C sub-committees and the Principal before approval by the P&C. The acceptance of any salary is at the discretion of the individual. A contract of employment shall be established to define the specific responsibilities and expectations of any paid position. The contract may be reviewed and amended after due notification, appropriate motion and agreement of the P&C and the Principal.
